Gigamon Joins Microsoft Intelligent Security Association

Gigamon, a pioneer in deep observability, has taken a significant step forward in expanding its cybersecurity reach, integrating its deep observability pipeline with Microsoft Sentinel and joining the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA). This collaboration brings together Gigamon’s advanced network visibility capabilities with the cloud-native security intelligence of Microsoft Sentinel, delivering powerful threat detection and response for mutual customers.

The Role of Deep Observability in Cloud Security

According to Gigamon’s 2024 Hybrid Cloud Security Report, 84% of Security and IT leaders view deep observability as a fundamental component of cloud security. Deep observability uses network-derived insights to give organisations visibility into potential blind spots, optimise network traffic, and streamline hybrid cloud infrastructure management. This approach strengthens defences against complex cyber threats that frequently evade traditional security measures.

Enhancing Microsoft Sentinel with Network-Derived Intelligence

Traditional SIEM tools, such as Microsoft Sentinel, monitor log data to detect and respond to security incidents. However, threat actors often manipulate log data, making it challenging to achieve comprehensive visibility. Gigamon’s integration with Microsoft Sentinel addresses this by providing real-time, network-derived intelligence, equipping Sentinel with data that reflects the true state of network activity. With this enhanced view, Microsoft Sentinel customers can more effectively detect lateral movement and encrypted traffic, delivering better visibility into suspicious activity across hybrid cloud environments.

Microsoft Sentinel’s built-in AI, combined with Gigamon’s Application Metadata Intelligence (AMI), enables organisations to extract detailed metadata and customise the data streams sent to security tools. This integration provides a centralised view across on-premises, virtual, public cloud, and container environments, empowering security teams to detect, analyze, and respond to threats faster than ever.

A Unified Defense Against a Complex Threat Landscape

The collaboration between Gigamon and Microsoft represents a strong commitment to cybersecurity. “The Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline is a key component of this ecosystem, and we’re committed to empowering our ecosystem partners, like Microsoft, with the visibility they need to proactively identify, assess, and respond to threats before they compromise our joint customers’ hybrid cloud infrastructure,” said Srinivas Chakravarty, Gigamon’s Vice President of Cloud Ecosystem.

Maria Thomson, Director of MISA, highlighted that “members like Gigamon share Microsoft’s commitment to collaboration within the cybersecurity community to improve our customers’ ability to predict, detect, and respond to security threats faster.” MISA, established in 2018, brings together Microsoft and leading security software vendors to create collaborative solutions that address an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape.

A Safer Cloud Environment for Businesses

By joining MISA and integrating with Microsoft Sentinel, Gigamon reinforces its role as a cybersecurity leader, delivering critical visibility to organisations navigating the evolving hybrid cloud landscape. This partnership aligns with the goals of MISA to safeguard businesses, scale protections with AI, and foster a collaborative ecosystem for intelligent, fast-acting security solutions. For organisations relying on hybrid cloud infrastructure, this collaboration offers a path toward enhanced security, operational efficiency, and peace of mind in an era of escalating cyber risks.
