According to the Office of Fair Trading Queensland, from 21 January 2020, a new training package for security providers under the Security Providers Act 1993, will be available – called the CPP Property Services Training Package 7.0 for Security Operations.
The Commonwealth Department of Education and Training approved Artibus to undertake extensive reviews and consultations before producing the new training package. As a result, the training package will be closely aligned with other States and Territories.
The changes mean that registered training organisations can offer a nationally consistent approach to training for security providers entering the industry, and one that is more up to date and relevant.
The new training package doesn’t impact existing licence holders, except bodyguard and crowd control licence holders, where there are ongoing modules that need to be completed every three years
Details of the new training modules for each licence, can be found on our website:
- bodyguard
- cash transit officer
- crowd controller
- dog patrol security officer
- unarmed security officer
The new training package will completely replace the former security CPP07 Training Package. If you have completed the training from this package prior to 21 January 2020, the OFT will still accept this training until 20 January 2021 for licences.
