Axis Communications have announced a wide range of new cameras and audio solutions, as well as a new chip, at the recent Security Exhibition in Sydney.

We demonstrated to service providers and end-users how they can drive extra value from our solutions, and we really showed the industry how busy our Research and Development team have been over the past twelve months.”
Axis showcased the latest round of developments from the company’s Research and Development team which, in broad terms, included new and enhanced technologies ranging from cameras that offer superior vision in ultra low-light conditions, new functionality for protecting the privacy of people being recorded in sensitive situations, through to industry-specific solutions for markets including retail, healthcare, education and more.
Axis Communications also demonstrated an expanded portfolio of network audio solutions, a market that continues to grow across the local region. Axis network audio systems are complete, high-quality audio systems for use in various situations such as improving security on a premises with event-triggered announcements and direct callouts, making live or scheduled announcements in different zones, or creating ambiance by the scheduling of background music.
Of particular note at this year’s event was the first wave of new technology featuring the 7th generation AXIS ARTPEC chip, which is optimised for network video. The upgraded chip will power an array of new capabilities and features coming to Axis network cameras from now on. These features include even better imaging, enhanced security features, powerful compression and the capability of running impressive analytics on the edge.
Moreover, since the chip is fully developed by Axis, it provides a layer of control that is crucial for effective cyber security.
Other standout technology included:
- The AXIS P3719-PLE, a multi-directional outdoor four channel camera with Quad HD resolution per channel and capable of covering a 360-degree field of vision, with a frame rate of 30 fps
- A specialist camera for recording licence plates, the AXIS Q1700-LE, which is capable of capturing clear, high-resolution images at high speeds
- The multifunctional AXIS A8207-VE, an advanced door station combining image and audio technologies, and
- A media adapter for connecting any speaker to an IP network, the AXIS C8210, which allows analogue speakers to operate as part of a connected network
Axis staff and executives were on hand throughout the event, and reported a high level of interest in the AXIS ARTPEC 7 chip, as well as Axis’ new audio solutions and ultra low-light cameras.
